Next month we will be celebrating Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve.
Other special days in December include December 2 – International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, December 3 – International Day for Persons with Disabilities and World Peace Day, December 5, International Volunteer Day, and December 10, Human Rights Day.
We may associate this month with gifts, parties, and celebrations, but it’s an important month to remember the importance of respecting others and working to make this world a better place for everyone.
What gifts will you be giving this year? If you voted, you may have helped give yourself and the people you care about the greatest gift possible – preserving our democracy. Guess what? I know voting was on November 8, but you have to keep voting in every election and holding your representatives accountable for their words and their votes.
Lilly Kauffman, Orlando Bartro, Linda Cahill, and I will be back with interesting articles and recipes for you. Our vegetable for December is asparagus. My sons and I love grilled asparagus. Asparagus smothered in cheese sauce used to be one of my holiday favorites but having a lactose intolerant family member has changed that. Look for two delicious and dairy-free asparagus recipes in December.
We’ll have our December quiz (it might be Rebus puzzles) reading recommendations, streaming article, and our new series, “Dare to Believe” and “What’s in a Word?”
My December book selection will probably be something holiday related, but it might be a book of lyrics from Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine – one of my new favorite bands. I haven’t made my mind up yet.
Until next month,
Stay safe. Stay well. You are important, and you are loved.
All my best,
Fran
