Rest assured I don’t know the identity of who reads what, but I do know what gets read and which countries it is being read in. Our Rebus puzzles remain popular all over the world. I’m glad because they are a lot of work, and I sometimes worry they’re either too obscure or too obvious.

My first introduction to these puzzles was in the Highlights Magazine I loved reading as a child in the doctor’s waiting room. It kept my mind off the inevitable indignities of those little paper gowns. Later, teachers would challenge my classmates and me to solve Rebus puzzles during holiday parties, or when most of the class was absent for holiday travel on the day before break. My son, Christian, was exceptionally good at solving word puzzles of any kind. Rebus puzzles are an excellent way to exercise your mind.

In honor of Women’s Health month, I’ve designed a Rebus puzzle quiz featuring ways to stay healthy. Can you decipher these picture clues to discover our top ten ways to stay healthier? FYI- we are expounding upon these ten ideas in this issue. I could add dozens more, but KISS (keep it simple, stupid (me, not you) seems to work well when asking busy people to make changes to their daily routines – no matter how beneficial.

We’ve given you the number of words in each phrase or sentence, and each word is separated by a white (blank) square. Plus or minus signs let you know when to add or subtract a letter from the picture image to complete the word.
