I haven’t watched much television this month, but I did find a couple of TV shows I really like. I also discovered Tubi. It’s been part of the selections offered on my TV, but I never clicked on it. It’s a free streaming service with many interesting TV shows and movies. You can watch without signing up for a free subscription, but if you do subscribe, you can watch the series where you left off instead of having to start at the beginning episode and scrolling through episodes to find where you last watched.
On Tubi, I’m watching Alias. Somehow, I missed watching it when it originally aired from 2001 to 2006 (5 seasons). Alias stars Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber, Ron Rifkin, Bradley Cooper, Michael Vartan, and Carl Lumbly. J.J. Abrams and Ken Olin were executive producers and Olin directed 23 of the 105 episodes. Garner plays Sydney Bristow, a young woman who thinks she’s working for a secret branch of the CIA. When her fiancé Daniel is murdered, Sydney learns she’s working for the bad guys and becomes a double agent determined to take down the agency that killed Him. Victor Garber plays her father who is an enigma. It’s fun to watch a strong female lead again and Garner is terrific.
A new show I’m watching is Holmes Family Effect – a Canadian Reality show on Fox Now. Contractor Mike Holmes, his daughter Sherry and his Son Michael are teaming up to tackle much-needed renovations for deserving individuals who are making a difference in their communities. I love the projects they choose. The first project was for a teacher at a vocational high school in Ontario. The Holmes’ remodeled his classrooms and his office and arranged for area businesses to donate tools and equipment. The design style was sleek and modern with no unnecessary frills. It will make a difference for countless students who are trying to find their vocation. I’ve seen four episodes so far and each recipient has been an outstanding asset to their community. I wish we had an American “Holmes family” working in all 50 states. I like that they stay focused on the needs of the organization/community and don’t waste money.
There are also two shows on the CW I’m interested in. The first is the remake of Walker Texas Ranger which is called Walker. It stars Jared Padalecki, Lindsey Morgan, Coby Bell, and Keegan Allen. Padalecki plays Ranger Cordell Walker, and the show is nothing like the original. I’ve been a big fan of his because of Gilmore Girls and Supernatural. I also like that his new partner is a talented and competent Latina who keeps him on his toes. I was not a fan of Walker Texas Ranger, so I debated watching this new series. So far, I’ve been pleased with the direction of the series and the actors.
The second CW show I’ve been checking out is Superman and Lois. It stars Tyler Hoechlin (Martin from 7th Heaven) as Superman and Bitsie Tulloch as Lois. In this iteration of the famous comic book hero, Superman and Lois are married with twin sons who are teenagers. According to comic book lore, Lois would never be physically able to carry an alien baby to term let alone twins. If you suspend logic for a moment, you can appreciate this new twist to the Superman saga. Superman and Lois hide the truth from the boys about his identity for as long as they can to give them a shot at a normal life. I’m not one for spoilers, but the truth does come out. I like watching Clark and Lois navigate saving the world and breaking the big story while trying to be good parents to two teenagers with different talents and temperaments.
