In keeping with our spring refresh theme, I’m reviewing The Little Book of Life Hacks by Yumi Sakugawa. Sakugawa is an American comic book artist and author.
Her book is filled with clever ideas for improving almost every aspect of your life and adorable hand-drawn illustrations.
The contents of the book are divided into seven different sections, so it can be read in any order depending on what you want/need to accomplish on any given day.
I like how Sakugawa starts with “DIY Beautiful” offering simple tips for pampering yourself which include nail, skin, and hair care, a recipe for making lipstick out of crayons, and different ways to fold a scarf.
Doing things that will make you feel and look better is a great way to start your spring refresh or any season.
The tips are all practical and inexpensive. Many of the items she uses are everyday pantry items.
Other chapters include decorating tips, domestic skills, healthy eating, socializing, and the final chapter returns to things you can do to relieve stress and promote your physical and mental well-being.
It’s a well-rounded and inclusive approach to living your best life without breaking the bank. Sakugawa stresses positivity and creativity. I keep it on my desk and refer to it often.
I’m so glad I have the physical book instead of a digital version because I don’t think a digital version would do justice to the illustrations.
Many of the tips included are common sense tips you may already know but have forgotten or never tried. Having them all in one well-organized space makes them impossible to forget.
Instead of listing her tips, I’m going to recommend you get your own copy of the book. Consider it one of the best gifts you can give yourself. For me, reading this book reminded me of other tips and time-saving hacks I’ve learned along the way and has inspired me to think of my own hacks.
