What are You Streaming for Halloween? by Fran Joyce

How do you get ready for Halloween? Christian and I liked to spend the month of October streaming Halloween classics. He kept a list of his favorites, so we were always prepared. This year every streaming service seems to offer a curated list of their finest scary movies and TV episodes.

Chainsaws and dismemberments flicks aren’t really my thing, so curated lists are an effective way for me to limit the gore I’m prepared to see on any given night.

October 15, 2021, Halloween Kills will be released in theaters and available for streaming on paid tiers of Peacock for 60 days. It’s the 12th installment in the Halloween franchise. The action picks up immediately after the events of the 2018 Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis stars as an injured Laurie Strode and her family continue to fend off killer Michael Myers (Nick Castle). This time the Haddonfield community comes to Strode’s aid to hunt down Myers who managed to escape from a burning building in the 2018 Halloween.

Tubi is a free streaming service. This Halloween it offers a variety of scary movies including Candyman, The Descent, Train to Busan (a Korean Zombie movie), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Hills Have Eyes. Plus, there is an assortment of truly awful horror movies in their line-up, so be selective.

Hulu has Huluween on offer with a wide variety of Halloween movies and classic Halloween episodes from your favorite TV shows. There’s something fun for all ages.

Newcomer Discovery+ has Ghostober, a blend of Halloween and reality shows. Watch the best HGTV, The Travel Channel and The Food Network have to offer for Halloween inspired food, cooking, and decorating.

Disney+ is featuring Hallowstream – the best of all the Disney Halloween classics and four new premieres – LEGO® Star Wars Terrifying Tales, Muppets Haunted Mansion, Under Wraps, and Just Beyond

Netflix has something for everyone if you are a subscriber. Netflix and Chills bridges the gap between G rated Halloween episodes/movies and R rated gore. The sixth and final season of Lucifer is now available, and Midnight Mass is also streaming. Movies such as Nightbooks, No one Gets Out Alive, and There’s Someone Inside Your House are also available.
