Meet Clara Andrews by Lacey London - A Review by Fran Joyce

Lacey London

I’ve seen Lacey London’s books in my recommended reading suggestions from Amazon for some time now. Once I started using Twitter, I saw some of her tweets and put her on my list of authors to check out. Though I try to review as many local authors as possible, I always leave some space on my list for a few literary giants, best selling authors and/or authors who intrigue me.

U.K. Author Lacey London intrigues me. She lives in Cheshire, England and is the author of the Clara Andrew series and her new series, Anxiety Girl. Her books are available around the world on amazon.com as Ebooks or in paperback form.

If you follow her on Twitter @thelaceylondon, she has some awesome giveaways and she is super supportive of her fellow authors.

The first book of the Clara Andrews series is called, Meet Clara Andrews and from the first chapter I felt as if I had actually met Clara. To me one of the most important criteria for reading a series is the connection I make or don’t make with the main character.

Clara is beautiful, outrageous, and slightly self centered. Think Emily Charlton’s style with Bridget Jones’ luck. She is also tremendously focused on her career and fiercely loyal to her friends, Lianna and Marc.

After a dating drought Clara finds herself with two suitors, a fun-loving bartender named George from a local pub and Oliver, the handsome American designer.  When Clara and Oliver are both assigned to the same project, Clara decides she shouldn’t mix business with pleasure but Oliver has other ideas. He is charming and he enjoys the finer things in life. Clara likes going to fancy restaurants and being treated like a princess, but George is funny and uncomplicated. He’s the kind of man you take home to meet your family.

What’s the worst that could happen dating two very different men especially when one of those men has to eventually return to his home in the United States?

I really can’t say anymore about the book without spoiling the entire series. I will tell you Clara makes her choice and after a few setbacks her relationship remains intact throughout the series.

This is where the Clara series distinguishes itself from other romcom/chick lit books. London doesn’t drag her feet. We don’t have to read three or four “will they won’t they” books before our favorite couple officially becomes a couple. I purchased the next book in the series, Clara Meets the Parents before I finished this book.

Then, because I was curious about her new book series, I purchased Anxiety Girl which in honor of World Mental Health Day this month I will also be reviewing in this issue. Somebody stop me I’m hooked!
