Welcome to This Awful-Awesome Life!
I hope you like our new look and enjoy the changes we have made to our content. Just like life, our magazine is a work in progress.
I am designing and publishing the magazine on squarespace.com now; it has some wonderful capabilities I am very excited to share with you.
You will be able to subscribe to the magazine and new issues will be sent directly to your inbox. Subscriptions are free and we will not use share your name or email.
Our social media accounts are connected, so you will be able to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Squarespace also makes it easy for me to know how many readers we get each month and what part of the United States (or the world) our readers call home. This helps me decide what kinds of articles to write and what types of sponsors we need.
This month we are talking about destinations. When I was brainstorming for this issue, I thought of every piece of advice I could give a would-be traveler, but I’m not your mother, and you are an adult capable of making travel plans and packing your own suitcase. There are hundreds of travel blogs and websites written by experts at your fingertips. Use them if you have questions.
This issue has a few suggestions for where to go, how to save money for your trip, and what to do when your dream vacation gets derailed – staycations to the rescue! We also asked some of our readers to share their vacation experiences.
Award winning author Ann K. Howley, who recently returned from a trip to Alaska, has a few things to say about bears. Linda and Joe Cahill share their vacation experiences in Mexico, and we look in on Ken and Denice McDonough’s rental property on Anna Maria Island.
Because I’m a writer and I’ve had a lifelong love affair with books, every issue will feature a book review and at least one article will relate our topic of the month to books or authors you should be reading.
Be sure to check out our events page to find out about exciting upcoming events and our sponsor pages for information about products and services you need. We publish direct links to our sponsors’ websites, so you have complete access to their information and products.
Also, we will always have a quiz of some sort to keep those mental cobwebs at bay and give you the opportunity to show off a little even if it’s only to yourself.
I hope you enjoy this issue. Feel free to offer us feedback on Facebook or email me directly at franjoyce@thisawfulawesomelife.com.
Enjoy!
